RAPID CITY -
Brinker International, the company that operates restaurant chains
such as Macaroni Grill and Chili's, has signed a deal with Rapid
City-based SDWYO to develop four On The Border Mexican Grill &
Cantina restaurants in Wyoming and South Dakota.
According to Bryan
Gonzalez, managing partner of SDWYO, the restaurants will be
located in Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Casper, Wyo., and Cheyenne,
Wyo. He said he couldn't identify the exact location of the Rapid
City restaurant, because real estate issues are still being worked
out.
"On The Border is a
great brand and we are excited to bring it to the people of South
Dakota and Wyoming," Gonzalez said. "We are looking forward to
working with a reputable leader in the restaurant industry such as
Brinker."
The restaurants are
scheduled to be completed by 2011, but Gonzalez said it will
probably be much sooner, especially for the Rapid City
restaurant.
"SDWYO is an
established restaurant operator and we are pleased to be working
with them on this development agreement," said Dave Orenstein,
president of On The Border Grill & Cantina.
SDWYO is affiliated
with Century Development in Rapid City. Another affiliate recently
opened the Sonic drive-in on Mount Rushmore Road.
