RAPID CITY - The city of Rapid City Engineering Department has announced several road closures in conjunction with construction projects.

Among those are:

* The outside eastbound lane of East St. Joseph Street between East St. Patrick Street and Steele Avenue will be closed for street construction work. The project should be completed by Tuesday, Aug. 28.

* Effective Monday, Aug. 27, Valley Drive between East Highway 44 and East St. Charles Street will be closed for utility construction work. Traffic will be detoured to Sedivy Lane. The project should be completed by Sept. 12.

Other city public-service announcements include:

* On-street parking on the south side of Apolda Street, between Mount Rushmore Road and 7th Street, will be prohibited on Monday, Aug. 27, to allow for the replacement of parking meter posts.

* Effective immediately, the allowable weight limits on the Creek Drive bridge over Rapid Creek (between St. Patrick Street and SD Highway 44) have been reduced to 9 Tons for Truck Type 3, 15 Tons for Truck Type 3S2, and 16 Tons for Truck Type 3-2.
