Federal jurors in Rapid City convicted a Custer man of attempted manufacture of methamphetamine.
Fifty-five-year-old Steve Buchanan faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
A sentencing date hasn't been set.
Federal prosecutors say the crime happened in February 2006 near Custer.
