Monday's one-vehicle rollover accident in Fall River County has claimed its second six-year-old victim.
Adrian Phelps died of injuries Wednesday night in Rapid City Regional Hospital. The death was investigated by the Pennington County Sheriff's Office, which is responsible for coroner's duties. Officials declined to comment on the case, referring questions to the Fall River County Sheriff's Department. Officers on night duty could not comment, a radio dispatcher said.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol said that Clinton Phelps, 28, lost control of a 2005 Dodge Neon and it veered across Cascade Road and landed on its top in a ditch about 9:20 p.m. Monday.
Faralyn Phelps died at the scene, two miles south of Hot Springs. The Highway Patrol said both children were ejected and its preliminary investigation indicated they had not been properly restrained in the vehicle. Investigators said alcohol was considered a factor in the crash. Clinton Phelps was wearing a safety belt and received non-life threatening injuries.
