Cheech & Chong, one of the most successful counterculture comedy teams of the 1970s and 80s, will bring their chemical-induced brand of humor to the Sturgis motorcycle rally this year as they perform at the Buffalo Chip.
The recording artist and acting team of Richard "Cheech" Marin and Tommy Chong will team up on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
The duo drew wide appeal from the hippie, free love and drug culture movements and had a series of comedy albums and low-budget movies that launched them into stardom. Since then, both Marin and Chong have had successful solo careers.
Chong recently starred in the award-winning documentary "a/k/a Tommy Chong," which depicted the comedian's arrest and subsequent conviction for conspiracy to make and distribute drug paraphernalia. Marin, meanwhile, has starred in a number of movies, such as Kevin Costner's "Tin Cup," as well as television shows, such as "Nash Bridges" and "Lost."
According to a news release from the Buffalo Chip, the comedy team will be returning to tour together on a limited basis and the Sturgis area campground is one of the few locations chosen.
