Gary Shamion of Sundance, Wyo., matched all five numbers in Wednesday's Dakota Cash drawing to win the $126,603 state lottery jackpot. He purchased the winning ticket at Belle Fourche, where he works hauling gravel.

Shamion discovered he won the prize earlier Thursday while traveling to a family wedding in Iowa. He stopped at a Sioux Falls gas station to check his numbers - 9, 13, 19, 25 and 26 - found they matched and presented his ticket for payment.

"The clerk said she couldn't pay the ticket and I asked 'Why not?' Shamion said. "She told me it was too big to pay, that it was more than $100."

Shamion's wife suggested the clerk print a report of the winning numbers and the family headed to the car to look at the ticket again. "I assumed I won a few hundred dollars," he said. "I was shocked to learn how much the ticket was worth." Shamion then asked for directions to the state lottery office where he claimed his prize surrounded by 10 family members.

Shamion said he usually purchases a ticket for each of South Dakota's weekly lottery drawings. He plans to pay bills and contribute to his two sons' college savings accounts.

Big D Oil in Belle Fourche will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The jackpot starts again at $20,000 for the next drawing Saturday night.
