United Blood Services of Rapid City is in critical need of type O-negative blood, according to a news release.
Type-O is the universal donor, and UBS officials said the need for that type of blood is continuous.
Those who are type O-negative are encouraged to stop in at the UBS Center, 2208 W. Omaha St., stop at one of the blood drives scheduled throughout the month in the area, or call 342-8585 to schedule an appointment.
Donors are asked to bring a complete list of medications taken in the past month. Donors must also be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds, and they should eat something and drink plenty of fluids before donating, according to the news release.
Also, individuals are reminded they must present a valid form of identification before donating.
