RAPID CITY - The attorneys for a man charged in the death of a toddler are questioning the admissibility and validity of shaken baby syndrome.

They argued that there is not enough scientific evidence to support the claim of shaken baby syndrome and that doctors should be barred from using the term at the trial of Matthew Potter, 20.

A circuit judge has yet to rule on the request.

Potter, of Rapid City, is charged with aggravated child abuse and alternate counts of second-degree murder and manslaughter in the January death of his girlfriend's son, 18-month-old Tanner Jurisch.
