Fire crews were busy Sunday responding to several fires sparked by thunderstorms that moved through the region Saturday evening.

Warm afternoon temperatures on Sunday woke up the sleepy fires, according to a news release from the Northern Great Plains Joint Information Center.

Four of the six fires were contained by Sunday evening.

* Bear Canyon Fire - Black Hills National Forest on the Wyoming/South Dakota border west of Deerfield Lake, listed as one-quarter of an acre at 7 p.m. Forest Service crews and air resources responded.

* Parmlee Canyon Fire - Black Hills National Forest near the Wyoming and South Dakota border west of Deerfield Lake. Forest Service crews and heavy air tankers responded. Fire was controlled at one-and-one-half acres.

* Silver City Fire - Black Hills National Forest west of Pactola Reservoir. Forest Service crews contained the fire at approximately two-thirds of an acre.

* Norbeck Fire - Black Hills National Forest two miles northwest of Wind Cave National Park contained at one-tenth of an acre by Forest Service and State of South Dakota resources.

* Apple Valley Fire - Black Hills National Forest approximately two miles northwest of Wind Cave National Park burned one-tenth of an acre. Forest Service and State of South Dakota resources contained the fire.

* King Tut Fire - Black Hills National Forest eight miles southwest north of Custer north of Griffis Well in the area of the King Tut Mine. Three Forest Service engines responded, containing the fire at one-tenth of an acre.
