A caravan of truckers who are angry about the high price of diesel fuel may converge on the state Capitol in Pierre later this month. The protest is being planned by trucker Brian Frahm. Frahm said that 100 to 200 trucks - minus their trailers - could show up in the capital city on April 28.
Organizers plan to meet at a local park and then drive the trucks to the Capitol building in an effort to draw attention to the high toll that rising fuel prices are causing for the trucking industry. Frahm says the goal of the protest is to urge President Bush and Congress to do something about fuel prices.
Most goods delivered in the United States are carried on trucks, and it can cost more than a thousand dollars to fill up one of the big rigs.
Frahm's request to allow the Capitol convoy will be presented to the Pierre City Commission tonight.
