Rapid City Chamber of Commerce members will travel to Pierre for the 32nd annual Business Day at the Legislature on Tuesday, Feb. 12. This annual event gives South Dakota's business leaders an opportunity to network with other South Dakota community leaders, business people, and governmental officials. Business Day at the Legislature is scheduled for the mid-part of the session when many bills affecting business are still under consideration by Senate or House committees.
A chartered bus will leave the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center at 6:45 a.m. In Pierre, participants will attend a legislative update with state Chamber of Commerce & Industry President David Owen. Attendees will attend a South Dakota Business Caucus luncheon where members of the audience will be asked a series of South Dakota issue questions and will respond anonymously by entering their replies on individual keypads.
The finale of the day is a reception and a banquet with the Governor and state legislators. The featured speaker for the banquet is John Engler, former Governor of Michigan and current president of the National Association of Manufacturers. The group will depart from Pierre at 9 p.m. CST and arrive back in Rapid City at approximately 11 p.m.
