A prescribed burn planned at Wind Cave National Park for today has been postponed because of weather conditions.
According to a news release from Wind Cave National Park, officials there called off the burn Sunday after National Weather Service officials predicted a strong inversion in the region.
The inversion causes smoke to remain closer to the ground and doesn't allow it to rise and disperse. Because of these unfavorable conditions, the burn was postponed until later this fall, officials said.
