A Piedmont teen who was involved in a rollover accident Tuesday morning, July 15, on Elk Creek Road is in critical condition at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Cara Draper, 16, was traveling east on Elk Creek Road about 6:37 a.m. Monday when the Jeep Wrangler she was driving left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a road sign, according to Sgt. Don Allen of the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
The Wrangler rolled about four times, and Draper was ejected, Allen said. She was airlifted to Rapid City Regional Hospital, he said.
Draper was in critical condition as of Wednesday afternoon, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
The accident occurred about 11/2 miles east of Interstate 90, Allen said.
