GILLETTE, Wyo. - A 40-year-old Gillette man accused of beating his wife so severely he damaged her internal organs will stand trial on an aggravated assault charge.
James R. Mills was bound over to District Court on Thursday after waiving his right to have a circuit judge determine whether prosecutors have enough evidence against him to go to trial.
Prosecutors say Mills punched his wife in the face and stomach and grabbed her by the throat during an argument at their Gillette home in September. She had to be flown to Denver for injuries to her liver and pancreas, but police say she is expected to make a full recovery.
If convicted, Mills faces up to 10 years in prison. His next court appearance hasn't been scheduled yet.
