Here are some Labor Day weekend events in the Black Hills:
Friday, Aug. 31, through Sunday, Sept. 2
The Sturgis Mustang Rally for Ford Mustang cars. Events are on Main Street and at the Sturgis Dragway east of town.
Friday, Aug. 31, through Sunday, Sept. 3
Gathering of the Clans Celtic festival at the Band Shell at Memorial Park in Rapid City. The festival offers Highland games, Celtic music, Celtic dancing, costumes and parades at noon on Saturday and Sunday.
Friday, Aug. 31, through Monday, Sept. 3
Crazy Horse Memorial Labor Day Open House. Admission is free for residents of South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming and Montana, with a suggested donation of three cans of food per person for the KOTA Care and Share Food Drive. A blast on the mountain is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.
Friday, Aug. 31, through Monday, Sept 3
The Porcupine Pow Wow at Porcupine on the Pine Ridge Reservation. It includes the Pine Ridge Walk to Iraq event to support the troops. The walk begins at 10 a.m. at the Porcupine Clinic.
Saturday, Sept 1, and Sunday, Sept. 2
The Black Hills UTV Rally at the Top 50 Rally Park in Piedmont, featuring trail rides, demonstration rides, vendors and other events for all-terrain utility vehicles.
Sunday, Sept. 2, through Monday, Sept. 3
The Newell Labor Day Celebration, with a parade and dance on Main Street, a ranch rodeo, including sheep teepeeing, mutton busting and other activities.
Monday, Sept. 3
10 a.m.: The Rapid City Labor Day Parade begins at 3rd and Main Streets downtown, followed by a picnic for union members, family and friends at the Band Shell in Memorial Park.
