Residents in Harding County and the Black Hills area are being advised to look out for flooding from heavy rains that are following record rainfall.
A flood warning is in effect for the Little Missouri River near Camp Crook in Harding County. The river was only6 inches below flood stage this morning. Minor flooding is expected, according to the National Weather Service.
A flood watch is in effect for the eastern slopes of the Black Hills and many areas throughout western South Dakota.
The flood watch is in effect through Thursday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Average rainfall of .75 inch to 1.5 inches is likely, but heavier rain, with 2 to 4 inches, is possible today and Thursday, especially in eastern slopes of the Black Hills.
A flood watch means flooding is possible but is not imminent.
