A group of organizations including Black Hills Harley-Davidson, Highmark Federal Credit Union, and the Black Hills Home Builders Association have teamed up with the Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity to build a four-bedroom Habitat home from the ground up, called the Four H's Build Project.
To add a motorcycle twist to the project, the preliminary build will take place at Black Hills Harley-Davidson, off Deadwood Avenue, the week of May 18 to May 24. Then, it will be moved to its permanent location in Sun Valley Estates - with a motorcycle escort.
The cost to build a Habitat home is $90,000 to $100,000, depending on the size of the home and the cost of the land. Many items have already been donated to the Four H's Build Project. However $45,000 is still needed by May 1 to help buy the land and building materials.
Fundraising is under way, including an appeal letter that was recently mailed to the Chamber of Commerce. Duhamel Broadcasting is sponsoring an Online Radio Auction on Tuesday, April 1, and local credit unions have teamed to sponsor a Federal Credit Union Challenge selling raffle tickets for a chance to "Win a Trip to the Money Box."
