A Rapid City man has been arrested for providing alcohol to a Rapid City teenager killed Sunday in a traffic accident.
Brian LeBeau, 30, of Rapid City was arrested Tuesday on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and furnishing alcohol to a minor. Both are class 1 misdemeanors, punishable by a maximum of one year in jail and $1,000 fine.
Chelsea Miller, 17, had a blood-alcohol concentration greater than the .08 limit at which intoxication is legally presumed for adults when she died of injuries from an accident on Catron Boulevard. In attempting to pass, Miller's 1995 Geo Metro struck the rear of another eastbound vehicle and rolled. Miller, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and died at the scene.
There is no indication that LeBeau knew Miller, but he is charged with providing alcohol to other underage individuals whom Miller came in contact with, according to Lt. Dave Walton of the Rapid City Police Department.
LeBeau remains in custody at Pennington County Jail and faces a probation violation charge.
The ongoing police investigation could yield more arrests, Walton said Wednesday.
