Chari Miranda will stand trial the week of Sept. 22
The Rapid City woman charged in the September murder of a 24-year-old man will go to trial the week of Sept. 22.
Chari Miranda, 20, may be convicted of only one of the four counts with which she is charged, because they are alternative charges.
The charges are second-degree murder, which carries a mandatory life sentence upon conviction; two first-degree manslaughter counts, which have a maximum penalty of life in prison; and second-degree manslaughter, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
She was arrested in September when police responded to a home and found Richard Standing Bear stabbed to death. Police found Miranda and the weapon believed to be the murder weapon in another room of the house.
At a Tuesday status hearing, 7th Circuit Judge A.P. "Pete" Fuller set the trial date.
Miranda remains in custody at Pennington County Jail on a $1 million cash or surety bond.
