Attorneys said Thursday that they are negotiating a plea agreement in the case of a Rapid City man charged with raping another man in August.

Barry Teal, 45, is charged with second-degree rape, which is defined as having sex with someone using force or coercion.

He faces a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison if convicted.

Seventh Circuit Judge Merton B. Tice set a status hearing in the case for March 20.

Teal remains free on bond.
