HOT SPRINGS - Rose Heeb, Miss SDSU, and Emily Anne Miller, Miss Hot Springs, took home preliminary awards in the Talent and Swimsuit competitions at the Miss South Dakota Pageant Thursday night.
Rose Heeb won the preliminary talent award singing "As if We Never Said Goodbye," from the musical "Sunset Boulevard" as her talent. Emily Anne Miller took the swimsuit title wearing a turquoise two-piece.
Heeb is from Midland, Miller is from Irene.
The talent award is a $1,000 scholarship, and $200 goes to the swimsuit winner.
The pageant continues with preliminary competition Friday night, and the finals on Saturday. The Saturday night performance will also include the 2009 Miss South Dakota's Outstanding Teen Competition.
