RSVP honors Lois Halley for her years of service
Lois Halley of Keystone has been named Volunteer of the Year by the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at their 35th annual recognition dinner Thursday in Rapid City.
Halley has been an active volunteer with RSVP for more than 24 years and has personally volunteered more than 10,100 hours with RSVP in the Keystone community at the Keystone Library, Historical Society, Senior Center, Elderly Meals Program and as coordinator for the Keystone Area RSVP Volunteers.
Over the years, she has also volunteered within the local school district, at Mount Rushmore National Memorial, the extension club and living history school in Keystone.
Halley was named Keystone Citizen of the Year in 1995 and RSVP Volunteer of the Quarter in 1996.
Also honored for their outstanding volunteer services were quarterly top volunteers: Shirley Osterday, Marjorie Golden and Joe and Mary Royball of Rapid City, and Victor Kienitz of Hot Springs.
The RSVP annual recognition dinner also pays tribute to more than 600 senior volunteers in Rapid City, Keystone, Hill City, Box Elder, Hot Springs and Wall who contribute more than 120,000 hours of community service annually.
