RAPID CITY - The Rapid City Council will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at the City/School Administration Center, 300 Sixth St.
On the agenda:
n A recommendation from the city attorney about Rapid Construction, a local contractor whose license was revoked last month after an inspector found workers installing old water pipe at a job site. The city trenching board decided last month that the issue was severe enough to warrant a yearlong license suspension.
For the past few weeks, the city attorney and Rapid Construction's attorney have been negotiating a less-severe penalty that could include a fine, probation and frequent inspections of the company's work.
n Final approval of an ordinance increasing garbage-collection rates and landfill tipping fees. The typical residential customer will see monthly bills rise about $2.78 per month. Tipping fees will increase every year for the next four years, but trash rates will be frozen until 2013.
n Authorization to apply to the state Game, Fish & Parks for licenses to kill 300 deer within the city limits. The GF&P annual survey in October indicated the city's deer population has dropped from a year ago, but city officials want to bring the level to a still lower number.
