Larry Rhoden has announced his candidacy for the South Dakota State Senate for District 29.
Rhoden is currently serving in his eighth year in the House of Representatives. For the past four years, Rhoden has held the position of House Majority Leader. Sen. Kenny McNenny, the current senator for District 29, announced earlier this year that he would not seek another term.
Rhoden believes that the experience he has gained during his tenure in the House of Representatives would be a tremendous advantage to him if he were elected to the senate.
"Since the advent of term limits, it has become increasingly important for legislators to understand the legislative process and have the ability to hit the ground running in order to effectively represent their home district," Rhoden said.
Rhoden also said that if elected, he would maintain his philosophy of fiscal conservatism, limited government and strong family values.
Larry and his wife, Sandy Rhoden, live on the family ranch near Union Center with their sons Jesse, Cody, Reggie and Tristen.
