In a new Web site, the developers of the Rushmore Crossing Shopping Center claim to have "fully executable leases" with Dillard's, Linens-N-Things, T.J. Maxx and Shoe Carnival.

The site, www.midlandatlantic.com, breaks its potential tenants down into those with signed leases, those who are negotiating leases, those who have signed letters of intent to locate stores at the mall and those whose letters of intent are being negotiated.

It is the first public acknowledgment by the developer that it has more than three confirmed tenants. Scheels All Sports, Target and Furniture Row have received building permits for their projects at Rushmore Crossing and are in some stage of permitting or construction.

At 900,000 square feet, the Rushmore Crossing shopping center is the largest retail development project in Rapid City since tRushmore Mall opened its doors in 1978. The project is being built south of Interstate 90 between La Crosse and North streets. Its first stores should be open in the second half of 2008.

In the past, the company's marketing firm has listed about 70 stores for Rushmore Crossing, but the list has seemed to be more speculative than definitive. In fact, several retailers on the earlier list said they've had no contact with Rushmore Crossing's developers.

The Rapid City Journal was unable to independently confirm any of the other information on the new Web site. Spokespeople for Shoe Carnival, T.J. Maxx and Linens-N-Things were not able Monday to confirm whether they have plans to open in Rushmore Crossing.

"To my knowledge, we have no announcements about Rushmore Crossing," Dillard's spokeswoman, Julie Bull, said.

Officials from Midland Atlantic and its marketing firm Katz Associates were not available for comment on Monday.

A number of other stores are negotiating leases, according to the Web site. They include Coldwater Creek, Motherhood Maternity, Petco, Guitar Center, Kay Jewelers and Eyemart Express.
