The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association will convene its eighth annual national convention Wednesday through Saturday, June 25-28, in Spearfish. Various events will take the riders throughout the Black Hills.

The nonprofit association helps various veterans care facilities and veterans charities.

Jo Caskey, director of the Spearfish Convention & Visitor Bureau, said between 500 and 600 veterans and others will be based at Holiday Inn of the Northern Black Hills. More than 450 bikes will be displayed at times at the convention center's parking lot.

On Thursday, the group will tour Mount Rushmore, Spearfish Canyon, Custer State Park, and see the night blast at Crazy Horse Memorial.

Friday's events include a ride to Devils Tower, Four Corners and Spearfish Canyon, and group members will hold a wreath-laying ceremony at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, beginning at 3 p.m. Friday. Association members also will visit Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Sturgis, she said.

The group has more than 2,800 members, including 22 in the South Dakota chapter.
