Those of you on the west side of town will now have to drive a little farther to get your Thickburger.
Hardee's at 2300 W. Main St. closed its doors last Saturday, according to Danielle Dahlenburg, who manages the Haines Avenue Hardee's.
There are several other fast-food restaurants within a block of the West Main Street location, and Hardee's - which has been there for at least 10 years - could no longer compete. Among the other restaurants are McDonald's, Culver's, and Taco Bell.
All of the local Hardee's restaurants are owned by the same franchise company, Dahlenburg said. The three other locations - on Haines Avenue, Fifth Street and East North Street - will remain open.
The Rapid City locations are among 1,925 Hardee's restaurants and 1,141 Carl's Jr. restaurants in 42 states and in 13 countries for CKE Restaurants as of the end of the fiscal fourth quarter on Jan. 28, 2008.
