Rapid City police are looking for three men believed to have robbed a 24-year-old man shortly after midnight Wednesday in the Star Village area.
Police said the victim was punched several times, and his identification card and miscellaneous items were taken.
Sgt. John Olson said the suspects are all Native American males with thin builds. They are all about 5 feet, 10 inches tall. One was wearing a white tank top and black pants and had short hair and a mustache. Another wore all black and had short hair. The third was wearing a tan coat.
Olson said the men were driving a light-colored van and stopped the victim while he was walking home. They reportedly demanded his backpack before assaulting him and driving away.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
The license plate on the van the men are believed to be driving begins with "2 ND," but the rest of the plate number is unknown.
Anyone with information about the robbery or suspects' whereabouts is asked to call the police at 394-4131.
