The unmanned aerial vehicle team from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology received four awards at the recent International Aerial Robotics Competition at Fort Benning, Ga.
The students competed by launching, navigating and flying an unmanned craft. Then the vehicle launches out a second vehicle to capture and transmit data to the starting point.
The team received the Best Technical Paper Award, Best T-shirt Design Award and tied with Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech for the Best System Design Award. The team received more than $8,000 in prize money for its efforts.
