As a kickoff to National Entrepreneur Week, Western Dakota Technical Institute is hosting "Entrepreneur Boot Camp for Women," from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, at WDTI in Rapid City.

The daylong event is designed to help business owners expand their business and help hopeful entrepreneurs start their business the right way.

The morning session will include presentations by women business owners who will discuss their own experiences and answer questions. The morning keynote speaker will be Helene Duhamel of Duhamel Broadcasting, who will present "My grandmother, a pioneering businesswoman."

Other morning speakers include Deb Jensen of Black Hills Bagels, Pam Sykora of Jolly Lane Greenhouse, Karlene Hunter of Lakota Express, Lisa Modrick of Modrick Travel, Nicky Spencer of Spa 80 for Women and Carol Veldhuizen of Staples and Spice.

The afternoon session will include presentations and question-and-answer sessions by organizations that help businesses get started.

The afternoon keynote speaker will be Marcia Hendrickson, executive director of the Enterprise Institute. She will discuss "Angel investor and RAIN funds."

Other afternoon speakers include Terri Haverly of the Rapid City Economic Development Partnership, Dona Leavens of the Small Business Development Center, Mari Ann Carver of the Service Corps of Retired Executives, Rob Keeler of the Governor's Office of Economic Development, Jaci Worth of Wells Fargo Bank, Ted Bangert of Black Hills Federal Credit Union and Patsy Schmidt of the WDTI Corporate Education Center.

Those who enlist for the day can participate in some light physical training mid-morning, thanks to Spa 80, followed by lunch, sponsored by Rapid City Economic Development.
