In recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the South Dakota Coalition Against Domestic Violence will host a lecture and candlelight vigil at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Memorial Park bandshell in Rapid City.
Coalition co-directors Brenda Hill and Chris Jongeling noted that across the country rates of domestic violence have increased as the recession deepened. Currently, South Dakota funds about 44 shelters and advocacy programs.
