The following is a partial list of bills the South Dakota Legislature and its committees are scheduled to consider Thursday, Feb. 7:

7:45 a.m. Senate Transportation

* SB174 to revise eminent domain by railroads, a bill related to the construction of the DM&E Railroad line across South Dakota

7:45 a.m. Senate Education

* SB193 to enhance education in South Dakota

* HB1186 to ease eligibility for state Opportunity Scholarships by allowing a student to take the ACT or SAT test after graduating from high school

* SB150 to increase funding for schools and limit the growth of state general-fund spending

10 a.m. House Education

* HB1251 to acquire land and to build a $15.4 million West River higher-education facility

* HB1214 to create a minimum salary for teachers in school districts receiving state aid

* HB1268 to set a minimum teacher salary; school districts must meet within five years and to allow school districts to use the Teachers Compensation Assistance Program to do that

10 a.m. - House Local Government

* HB1151 to regulate the location and hours of operation of adult businesses

* HB1281 to permit municipalities and counties to assess surcharges against intoxicated persons responsible for expenditures of local resources.

The House and Senate convene at 1 p.m. today, which is the last legislative day of the week. Next week is a five-day week.

The Senate is scheduled to consider SB116, which is identical to HB1005, a bill that would switch valuation of agricultural land from a market system to a production system. The Senate Taxation Committee gave both bills a "do pass" recommendation yesterday.

The House will consider HB1171 to authorize hunting of mountain lions as predator/varmints in certain areas of the state.
