A Deadwood man was killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.

Christopher C. Poole, 24, was driving a 2003 Honda motorcycle south on U.S. Highway 85 about 1:30 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 1997 Buick driven by Rose M. Pzinski, 71, of Four Corners, Wyo.

Poole died at the scene. Highway patrol reported he was wearing a helmet. Speed appears to be a factor in the crash; alcohol does not.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, Deadwood Police Department, Lead Police Department, Lead Fire Department and Lawrence County Search and Rescue responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol and the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office.
