The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a high wind warning until 4 p.m. Friday throughout western South Dakota as a powerful cold front moves into the region.
Wind gusts of up to 60 mph are possible from Buffalo south to Rapid City, and snow showers are also possible as temperatures are expected to plummet region wide.
Blowing snow is also possible throughout northwestern South Dakota, which will at times limit visibility to less than a mile.
