Wet, heavy snow combined with persistent drizzle late Sunday night and Monday morning to create the first slow-go morning commute throughout the Black Hills on Monday.

Reports of accidents increased only slightly from the standard morning commute, but with 2 to 4 inches of snow reported in locations throughout the Black Hills, traffic was slow going as state and county plows hit the roads to keep the snow and slush from accumulating.

The National Weather Service in Rapid City issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the northern, central and southern Black Hills through the day, with another 2 to 4 inches of accumulation expected. High temperatures, however, are expected to stay slightly above the freezing mark through a good part of the day, with a high of 43 forecast in South Dakota.
