A Rapid City man's efforts to nudge a state senator to run for governor of South Dakota have gained little momentum.
Jack First started a petition drive and fundraising campaign three months ago at his shipping business in hopes of convincing Bill Napoli to enter the gubernatorial race.
Napoli is an outspoken Republican legislator.
Thirty-five people have signed the petition so far, and $20,000 has been pledged in support of a Napoli campaign.
But Napoli says it would take $500,000 to run the kind of campaign it takes to become governor.
He says running a campaign on "a wing and a prayer" doesn't work.
