Kasey Onken awaits sentencing on one count of sexual contact with a 7-year-old girl
Bond was denied Monday for a man in jail awaiting sentencing on one count of sexual contact with a 7-year-old girl.
Kasey Onken, 34, was convicted by a jury Dec. 21 of one count of sexual contact with someone younger than 16.
Onken was acquitted of four additional counts of sexual contact as well as five counts of criminal pedophilia that ran alternative to the five sexual contact counts.
At a status hearing Monday before 7th Circuit Judge Jack Delaney, Onken's attorney, Bryan Andersen, asked that his client's bond of $50,000 be reinstated between now and his sentencing.
Delaney denied that request, ruling Onken will stay in custody at the Pennington County Jail until his Jan. 28 sentencing.
Onken faces up to 15 years in prison for the sexual contact charge. That maximum is raised to 25 years if prosecutors prove at a hearing Jan. 25 that Onken has a criminal record.
