Sen. Tim Johnson was quoted in a story on the ABC News' Web site on Tuesday as saying he plans to run for re-election in 2008, but his campaign officials say he hasn't officially decided to do so.

"I expect to run and to win," Johnson was quoted in a story entitled "Sen. Tim Johnson's Second Chance at Life and Work." The story was posted at www.abc.com Tuesday and included a number of excerpts from Johnson's exclusive "Nightline" interview with reporter Bob Woodruff.

The quote came from an interview between Woodruff and Johnson.

But Julianne Fisher, communications director for Johnson's office, said the quote wasn't an official announcement and that the senator would decide later.

"He's planning on it," she said. "He's just going to make the decision later on. He wants to get back to the office first."
