SIOUX FALLS - South Dakota is getting a financial bonus from the federal government for its efficient management of the Food Stamp Program.
South Dakota will get $593,126 for accuracy in getting food stamps to eligible recipients.
The state has received a bonus every year since the bonus program began in 2003.
The U.S. Agriculture Department will give $30 million in bonuses to 16 states that do a good job running the program or show the most improvement.
The Food Stamp Program serves more than 27 million low-income individuals each month.
