The ninth annual Hemp Hoe Down music festival begins Thursday, May 7, at 5:30 p.m. with bands from the Black Hills, Minneapolis and San Francisco.
The event will feature other groups and continues through Saturday, May 9, at Elk View Campground, off Interstate 90 Exit 37 south of Sturgis.
There also will be exhibits with items made from hemp, hemp education videos and an update from Alex White Plume and the Lakota Hemp Project. The display will include original art on paper made from wild hemp gathered on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
Tickets may be bought at Global Market in Spearfish and Rapid City, Back to Nature in Sturgis and Ernie November's in Rapid City, or online at hemphoedown.com.
