BRANDON - A Brandon woman has been put on probation for a truancy violation.
Authorities say 41-year-old Chloye Smedsrud-Stelzer failed to get her fourth-grade son to school.
Court records indicate that the boy missed more than 26 days of school in the past school year and was late 80 times.
It was Smedsrud-Stelzer's second school-attendance conviction.
She says her son missed a lot of school because of sinus problems, but he had surgery several weeks ago and shouldn't have attendance problems in the future.
The judge suspended 10 days in jail on the conditions that Smedsrud-Stelzer send her son to school and get him counseling.
