PIERRE - Post 320's hopes of finally toppling rival Post 22 will have to wait.

The perennial powerhouse Post 22 jumped to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning Friday in the Region 3A title game and never looked back, defeating Post 320 7-2.

Following is an inning-by-inning recap of the game.

Post 22 retires Post 320 in order in the last inning winning the game 7-2, and taking the 3A Regional championship.

Post brings in Kolton Emery to close the game. He retires Post 320 in order.

Kelly Coates walks to start the inning, and is bunted to second by Jake Bohne. Parker Sullivan hits a ground ball to second moving Coates to third. Jordan Mette doubles down the left field line scoring Coates. Post leads 7-2.

Bottom of the seventh

With two outs Kyle Bingham walks, and Chris Lindemann doubles, putting runners on second and third. Nate Jacobsen singles up the middle scoring Bingham, 6-2 Post 22.

Johnson retires Starkey to end the threat.

Jake Bohne doubles to right-center field to start the inning. Parker Sullivan lines a single to right.

Jordan Mette hits into a fielders choice which scores Bohne, giving Post 22 a 4-1 lead.

Sam Wolff singles to left. Dana Hill hits a hard ground ball to third which is misplayed and goes into left field, Mette scores. 5-1 Post 22.

Jarrett Jensen reaches on an error scoring Sam Wolff, and giving Post 22 a 6-1 lead.

Kyle Starkey walks to start the inning but is stranded when J.J. Johnson retires the next three hitters. Post leads 3-1 after six.

Post 22 is retired in order. Post 320 relief pitcher Tyler Jones has now thrown three scoreless innings. Post 22 still leads 3-1.

Post 320 hits three consecutive singles by Jared Jacobsen, Reed Rice, and Kyle Bingham loading the bases with one out.

But all three are stranded after J.J. Johnson strikes out Lindemann, and gets Nate Jacobsen to ground out.
