Alcohol was not a factor in the boating accident that caused the death of a Seattle man last week, according to a news release from the Pennington County Sheriff's office.

Blood tests performed on the driver, 44-year-old Robert Meehan of Apple Valley, Minn., confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the accident, which occurred at Pactola Lake either late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, June 26 or 27.

The accident claimed the life of 43-year-old Barry Meehan of Seattle.

Robert Meehan and 36-year-old Seattle resident Rachelle Meehan were both injured in the accident.

Officials were notified of the accident shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Lt. Brian Mueller of the Pennington County Sheriff's office said it was determined that a boat carrying the Meehans struck a large rock on the south side of the lake near the entrance to Jenny Gulch.

No criminal charges have been filed in relation to the accident, according to the news release.
