Rapid City will be the 2010 census hub in South Dakota.
Census officials say people are being hired for a regional Census Bureau office that is scheduled to open October first in Rapid City.
The positions will pay from $31,000 to $48,000 a year.
Rapid City will be one of 150 local census offices throughout the nation.
The once-every-decade census is used to help distribute more than $300 billion in federal funds to state, tribal and local governments each year.
