The average price for gas in South Dakota has dipped below $2 a gallon.
AAA South Dakota said the average was $1.96 at last report - likely the result of reduced demand, good supplies and falling crude oil prices.
AAA spokesman Mark Madeja said the lower fuel prices could be the norm throughout the rest of the year and into early 2009.
Nationwide, the average for regular unloaded was $1.91 a gallon Monday. That's down more than half from the highest recorded average price nationwide, which was $4.11 a gallon on July 17.
