PIERRE - The state Department of Transportation is reminding people not to put campaign or ballot issue signs in places that will create safety hazards or distract motorists.

Director of Operations Greg Fuller says signs already are showing up along state roadways and that people need to place signs outside of state highway rights of way.

The state DOT says rights of way are reserved for highway traffic-control signs and that any unauthorized sign will be removed.
