YANKTON - An Internet security company says South Dakota is No. 2 on its list of the most-spammed states.

Message Labs, which has some 18,000 business clients around the world, says spam comprises 90 percent of the e-mail messages received by businesses in South Dakota.

Only Illinois has a higher spam rate: 92 percent.

A Message Labs official says spammers continue to increase their volume by infecting home computers and using them to help send spam.

Other states with high rates of spam receipts include Oregon, New Hampshire and Wisconsin.
