George Krenz was previously accused of furnishing alcohol to a minor
HOT SPRINGS - A former Hot Springs High School teacher previously charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor has also been charged with rape.
A Fall River County grand jury this week brought 13 separate indictments, including four counts of rape, against former Hot Springs High School teacher George Krenz related to incidents that allegedly took place in late March and April.
In papers filed in Seventh Circuit Court on Tuesday, Krenz, 30, is charged with three counts of fourth-
degree rape, a class 3 felony, one count of sexual contact with a person younger than age 16, which is also a class 3 felony, and one alternate count of second-degree rape, a class 1 felony.
Class 3 felonies are punishable by as much as 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine. A conviction on the second-degree rape charge could mean up to 50 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
Krenz is also charged with eight counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor - all class 1 misdemeanors, each punishable by a $2,000 fine and as much as a year in jail.
Krenz originally resigned in February, effective at the end of the school year, to move out of state with his wife. He submitted his immediate resignation May 8.
Krenz is alleged to have supplied
alcohol to students on two separate occasions, the first on March 30 or 31 and again on April 20 and 21. The sexual incidents were alleged to have taken place on each occasion.
Krenz had been charged earlier this month with four counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor younger than age 18. Those charges were dismissed because they were included in the grand-jury indictment.
Krenz will be arraigned on the new charges June 8 in circuit court in Fall River County.
