Stores plan late-night events
The end is near for Harry Potter fans as the seventh and final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," is released Saturday. But some local retailers are planning a night of festivities with midnight release parties.
Borders Books, Music & Cafe, 2130 Haines Ave., is hosting the "Grand Hallows Ball," which will feature music, a spelling bee, games and a costume contest. The event starts at 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Walden Books, 2200 N. Maple Ave., will also have a midnight release party, which will feature games, a costume contest, a trivia quiz, a debate about Snape's allegiance, and a raffle. Also, Hot93.1 will be broadcasting throughout the night from the store. The event starts at 9 p.m.
However, if you're not feeling up to staying out past midnight to reserve a copy of the book, Prairie Edge Trading Co. & Galleries is having a release party at 9 a.m. Saturday. The event will include a free screening of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone."
