ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE - About 300 Ellsworth Air Force Base airmen who have spent more than six months deployed in southwest Asia returned home Friday.
The airmen, from the 28th Bomb Wing, were greeted by Air Force and civilian honor guards.
They will have two weeks off before getting back to work.
Several of the airmen became new fathers during their deployment. One, Daniel Rice, saw his 5-month-old son for the first time when he returned.
"It's definitely overwhelming," said Rice, a crew chief on one of the B-1 bombers being used in the Middle East. "I mean, because for the last month and a half, all I've seen is pictures and e-mails and I haven't really had an opportunity to see him."
